About the Job
Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports related to CMDP funding, including assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, revenue, expenditures, and other financial activities. Prepare CMDP audited financial statements and supplementary schedules submitted to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) using U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare CMDP audited financial statements, supplementary schedules, account analysis schedules, variance explanations, and footnotes.
Analyze accounts, revenue, expenses, and Income Statement-to-Balance Sheet activity; update trending reports.
Assist with the annual financial statement audit.
Conduct quarterly revenue and expenditure reconciliations and report findings to AHCCCS.
Use automated accounting systems, data downloads, and AFIS reports to retrieve, review, and analyze financial data; track revenues, expenditures, and contract status.
Perform general ledger close and prepare financial reports during month-end close.
Update procedures, compile monthly reports, and provide supporting documentation for audits.
Analyze accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting and procedural standards.
Update KPI metrics, develop dashboards, compile monthly metrics, and present financial statement graphics.
Summarize data and present findings, analyses, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Assess accounting needs and recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Advise management on resource utilization and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Provide financial accounting data and information to management, AHCCCS, the Office of Auditor General, and the ADOA General Accounting Office.
Driving may be required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, including financial data analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of GAAP, government accounting principles, internal control structures, and fiscal management.
Knowledge of automated financial systems, applicable federal regulations, Arizona Revised Statutes, agency manuals, and policies and procedures.
Experience creating, revising, and maintaining complex Excel worksheets.
Ability to complete assignments accurately and on time with little to no supervision.
Advanced problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask, adjust priorities, work cooperatively with internal and external customers, and efficiently organize and maintain electronic files and records.
Ability to perform queries in Microsoft Access database files and apply financial research methodologies.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with data and compiling it into Excel worksheets.
